Dog the Bounty Hunter is a reality television show, following the work of Duane "Dog" Chapman as bounty hunter for his company, Da Kine Bail Bonds in Honolulu, Hawaii. The program spun off from their appearance on the show 'Take This Job', a program about people with unusual occupations.
Dog is fully involved in his business, and his family is too. As well as himself, his wife Beth, his sons Duane Lee and Leland are all bounty hunters. His nephew Justin also appears in the first season. As well as Hawaii, later episodes have featured cases in San Francisco and Dog's home state of Colorado. Dog claims to have caught over 6,000 bail jumpers.
While the program centers on Dog and his pursuit of criminals, it also shows other sides to his character - his life as a husband, father to their 12 kids and being an ex-convict. His softer side is often on display, as he tries to guide his catches back onto the straight and narrow.
